Report-back on IOTIC’s second Connected Things Forum in Cape Town

A most sincere thanks to all of you from the IOTIC membership that took the time out to attend this event on December 5th 2019, and your support for the IOT Industry Council.  It was a great event –  around 45 people attended, and some very interesting content presented.

Ian Merrington, CEO of CITI (Cape Innovation & Technology Initiative) gave an intro to the work CITI does, and Tim Parle, Chief Director, Digital Economy from the Western Cape Government, closed the day after a short overview of some of the projects being driven by provincial government to build tech capacity, and build local tech businesses. These two sessions book-ended Hein Koen of Flickswitch (who talked about the subtleties and gotchas of connecting IOT devices profitably), and Johann van Niekerk of Nerospec IOT (who talked about what it takes to get IOT hardware to market, beyond the simple bill of materials for components). Unfortunately Zandile Fuyane from IDC, who was going to talk about how to get funding for business growth, was unable to join us due to her flight having to turn back with technical problems.

We uploaded the presentations to the Resources section of the IOTIC website, at .
